History

It all started in 1954. Fond du Lac Credit Union, then called Fond du Lac City Employees Credit Union, was located in the back room of the old No. 5 Fire Station on Main Street and served employees of the City of Fond du Lac. They worked out of one cash box at that time.

January 1972: Fond du Lac City Employees Credit Union joined three other local credit unions to form the Fond du Lac Credit Union Center at 460 Cedar Street and remained there until October 1978 when it moved to 288 W. Ninth Street - the site of the former Eaton's store.

1974: Fond du Lac City Employees CU's charter was expanded to include employees of Moraine Park Technical Institute (now Moraine Park Technical College), the FDL School District, and International Paper.

December 1981: Membership expanded again to include anyone who lived or worked in the City of Fond du Lac, the village of North Fond du Lac, and townships of Empire, Fond du Lac, Friendship and Taycheedah. This was also the year we began offering IRA accounts.

1983: The name was officially changed to Fond du Lac Credit Union.

1987: Checking accts

February 1988: Credit unions that were affiliated with the Fond du Lac Credit Union Center - Giddings & Lewis Credit Union, Fond du Lac County Credit Union, dissolved their association.

1994: Fond du Lac Credit Union opened membership to all of Fond du Lac County.

October 23, 1995: Outgrowing the Ninth Street location, we moved again and opened our doors at 91 North Pioneer Road - the building that had been Bonanza Restaurant, and then Zake's Steaks.

2002: We opened a branch office in the lobby of the Fond du Lac Police Station at 126 N. Main Street, staffed with two full-time and one part-time employee.

2004: We expanded our membership again to include anyone who lives or works in Dodge County.

July 31, 2008: The branch office closed after it was determined by our Board of Directors that it was not cost effective to have an additional office just two miles from the main location. One of our ATMs is still at that location for members' convenience.

April - November 2010: We constructed a new facility at our current location 91 N. Pioneer Road to better accommodate our members. Whether you're closing a loan or transacting regular financial business, we're sure you'll find our new office comfortable and convenient.

We've come a long way from working out of that one cash box in 1954. We offer a full range of financial products and services. Whether you prefer today's technology, the personal touch - or a little of both, you'll find it here at FDL CU.

We value our members and are proud to have served the Fond du Lac area since 1954. If you're not a member, stop in and check us out!   We open doors to opportunity!
